More like deviantSOCIABLE or deviantNUMBERZ, depending on whether your goal is making friends or gaining a big amount of +faves and pageviews. If you want to pursue artistic knowledge and progress, this is most certainly not a place for you.

Seriously, the staff working on all these new +fave/collect/frontpage systems and yet not making it possible to turn off the ability to +fave the pictures in one's gallery or hiding the pageviews tells much about what's going on here.

I don't need the things deviantART or its members have to offer. I'll keep my gallery in storage until I figure out what to do with it - at some point I'll probably start whor- um, taking in commissions, but until then my presence in this shithole will be quite minimal.

Haha you have the guts to do something I've wanted to for ages. I've been at DA since almost it was founded and I'm afraid to pack up and leave even though by posting my arts I'm, under the rules, giving them the rights to use them how they please etc etc...

Maybe once I get motivated I can make my own website...

my aphorism: comments are like candies. It's nice to get one once in a while, when you're good. But asking for one not only makes you sound greedy but ruins the surprise when you DO get one. Comments are a privilege, not a requirement.

I've read that phrase before. For what it's worth, what I'm doing here hardly matches the definition of "whining".

i agree. I wish i could turn off pageviews and faves. its rather silly cause some people will watch your art not out of the quality but out of the pageviews and popularity. its quite bothersome.

Ha, yeah, and as the new system proved, the people here will mass-favourite virtually anything that makes it to the front page, was it a stolen stickman animation or a desktop screenie. It's not pathetic anymore, it's fucking SCARY.
